ScaleUsing a discarded news helicopter equipment chassis that has 'just the right shape',all parts scaled to fit side panels sized to mount to the sides. An additional inch at the base had to be added to make the proportions work with the angles of the original chassis.
Print EditionsAfter cleanup, upscaling to 300dpi and to print size.Got Photoshop? You too can have your own 300 dpi Atari upright marquee! Download (12mb file) Inacucracies exist compared to the original. Lots of them. You'll need to scale the print size to the correct marquee size, at the very least. Limited by media of 12 x 18, side art was 4 layers: RH, LH upper and lower halves, each layer activated and printed for consistent sizing. The marquee was assembled from scratch from a high-res photo of the cockpit backglass. All the background lines on the marquee were drawn by hand. The bezel will need to be adapted to a flat panel until a suitable 3-D bezel can be fabricated, but all parts printed to scale for reference in construction.
Whoops!
One slight problem; the angle of the side photo has some parallax distortion, so it's slightly larger than it should at the top, as well as a few inches were added to the base. Picture taken, then the ruler used as a scale reference to match the photoshop ruler. The artwork was scaled larger to fit both the cabinet sides and the maximimum print size available. Artwork adjusted to fit the distortion proportions and additional base lines added to make it work better. Hopefully the only artwork alteration from the original.. | ||
