Best as I can read from the article.. Plaid Hologram"they've gone plaid" And unamed Atari emp shared some devlop for a tie-in game with Mel Brook's ??? movie Spaceballs Detalis are sketchy, b apparently this screen overlay is lit by the led array to activate one of 6 holograms sequentially for an animated effect during bonus se??? It(sp) uknown when the release date will be for this game. Sounds like they were doing more than just a prop at this point. Given Atari's research into hologram technology, entirely plausible. I would say this would be fitted where the normal reflective glass goes in a standard Asteroids Deluxe. It's not said if the game was vector or raster in this article, but I'm still researching the details. |
A sketch from some notes I found..My theory as to how they work.. A led is lit, making the hologram opaque. Then the next led is lit, next hologram. Repeat as needed.
Gameplay movie!Turns out they were using frames from the movie itself- easily replicated with the DVD! Go plaid-Screen size versionNow all I need is a 19" diagoanal hologram printing service. Cheap. Looks to be about 7 layers. | |
